Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is visiting India this week to establish his full office in Bengaluru and plans to collaborate with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries. OpenAI, the main competitor of Anthropic, has recently expanded into India, making it its second-largest market after the US.
Anthropic‘s CEO, Dario Amodei, visits India with various plans, including a first visit to Mumbai to team up with Reliance’s Mukesh Ambani for Claude AI expansion, a meeting in New Delhi with PM Modi and officials, and a trip to Bengaluru to open a new office on Thursday, accompanied by EMEA head Guillaume Princen and startups chief Daniel Delaney.
Anthropic’s Claude app is experiencing rapid growth in India, with downloads increasing by 48% year-over-year to 767,000 in September, as per Appfigures data cited by TechCrunch. User spending surged by 572% year-over-year, reaching $195,000 last month.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is taking strategic steps by opening its first Indian office in New Delhi and recruiting a sales and marketing team to boost its presence.
