Abbott Promotes Vaibhav Mittal to Director - Compensation & Benefits, India Region

Vaibhav Mittal has been promoted to Director, Compensation & Benefits, India Region, at Abbott. In his expanded role as a leader, he will lead the company’s compensation and benefits strategy across India by aligning reward programs, executive compensation, employee compensation, benefits, and total rewards with Abbott’s business and talent strategy.

Vaibhav’s promotion indicates successful career progression at Abbott, with him advancing from one strategic position to another over the last three years. Vaibhav has been with the company since March 2023 as Head, Compensation & Benefits. His promotion to Associate Director – Compensation & Benefits, India Region happened in August 2024. Over the past three years, Vaibhav has actively contributed to Abbott in improving its total rewards philosophy, improving its competitive compensation, and transforming the organisation.

Before joining Abbott, Vaibhav was associated with BD (Becton, Dickinson) for over seven years, holding various senior leadership positions on the Total Rewards team. He was the Senior Manager – Total Rewards, South Asia & ANZ (Australia/New Zealand), after working as the Senior Manager – Total Rewards, South Asia and as Total Rewards Manager (India & Bangladesh). During this period, he was responsible for developing compensation strategies, salary surveys, incentive planning, benefits administration, and rewards management across different geographies in collaboration with business and HR leaders.

At the start of his career, Vaibhav served as a Consultant at Mercer, where he provided consultancy services to companies on compensation benchmarking, salary structuring, incentive plans, and total rewards. Moreover, he completed his MBA in international business at Mercer, where he conducted a benchmarking study of sales incentive plans for pharmaceutical and medical device companies operating in India.

As an alumnus of the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, with an MBA in Human Resource Management, Vaibhav has an excellent understanding of issues relating to HR, such as reward systems, total rewards management, salary benchmarking, executive remuneration, design of incentive plans, benefit management, pay governance, and reward transformation. This move is an affirmation of Abbott’s commitment to developing its internal leadership and people strategy.
