Canva Group, an Australian graphic design platform, said today it will cut 1,271 jobs, or 22% of its workforce, as part of a restructuring after a decade of unbroken growth.
The headcount reduction reflects the sector’s adaptation to rapid advances and shifting business needs.
Co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins said these organisational updates will reshape the company’s structure, team locations, and staffing requirements. Canva has combined its product, growth, and platform teams into a single product organisation to reduce handovers and give teams ownership.
The company will make Sydney its primary base for product teams and ask some employees to relocate. This will simplify the management and consolidate various roles to improve accountability and decision-making across the board.
