India is making progress toward establishing itself as a manufacturing hub for microchips through a collaboration between Tata Electronics and ASML. This partnership will see ASML, the world’s leading manufacturer of chip-making machinery. This will help Tata develop a 300-millimetre chip production facility.
Tata Electronics will spend $11 billion on a production facility that will manufacture chips. This will be used in everyday electronics like cars and mobile phones, as well as in advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI). The agreement announcement t was made when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten were present at a business conference.
The joint venture is fully aligned with the objectives of both countries. India aims to become a global technology leader by investing billions of dollars in chip-making companies. Through subsidies, with eight projects on track, including a $14 billion project from Tata in Gujarat. At the same time, Dutch chip-makers are seeking new markets outside their own country due to tight export regulations and escalating trade disputes between America and China.

Moreover, during this summit, PM Modi even advised Dutch executives to make substantial investments in multiple industries. These involve the renewable energy, IT, and healthcare sectors in India. Both leaders advocated fast-tracking the free trade agreement between India and the European Union.
