Modi, Trump Likely to Talk Trade and Visas at G7 Meet

Modi-Trump Summit Talks Focus on Trade and Mobility

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet U.S. President Donald Trump during the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, from June 15 to 17. This meeting is expected to focus on trade, H-1B visas, and energy cooperation.

According to Indian government sources familiar with the matter, Narendra Modi will discuss trade relations, energy partnerships, and visa issues that affect many Indian professionals working in the United States on H-1B and other work visas. The H-1B visa policy will be particularly important for Indian professionals.

The meeting comes at a time when relations between New Delhi and Washington have faced some challenges. The two countries have disagreed over U.S. tariffs on Indian goods. India has also rejected President Trump’s claim that he helped stop last year’s conflict between India and Pakistan.

Recent diplomatic engagements have helped improve communication between the two countries. The Secretary of State for the United States of America, Mr Marco Rubio, recently visited India, where many significant issues, such as trade, visas, energy, and security, were discussed. India is seeking lower tariffs and better trade terms. Meanwhile, the U.S. has proposed an additional 12.5% tariff on some imports from India, a move that India has opposed.
