Embraer Expects India Military Transport Boost in Future

Embraer, Mahindra Target India's Huge Military Jet Deal

Brazilian aerospace company Embraer expects India to move forward in the coming months with a massive military procurement project, launching an official tender for 60 to 80 medium transport aircraft. Chief Executive Francisco Gomes Neto announced that India is preparing to issue a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) very soon.

Embraer’s C-390 Millennium aircraft stands out as a primary contender for this highly lucrative defense contract. The Indian market represents a highly strategic expansion target for the Brazilian manufacturer as it looks to boost global sales. To strengthen its position and fulfill local manufacturing requirements, Embraer has strategically partnered with India’s Mahindra Group.

This partnership aims to establish a robust local assembly line if they win the contract. The Indian government reportedly wants to finalize its vendor selection and seal the official decision by the end of 2027. This multi-billion-dollar Indian defense deal represents a direct, high-stakes global competition against Lockheed Martin’s widely used C-130 Hercules aircraft.
