India and the UK have set up a collaboration group to enhance bilateral defence technology co-operation related to autonomous systems. This is a project led by industry experts of India and the UK, with its announcement being made during the Farnborough International Airshow. The collaboration seeks to develop expertise in areas such as robotics and AI.
Operating under the UK-India Business Council (UKIBC) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), the group supports the India-UK Defence Industrial Roadmap and the Vision 2035 partnership. The collaboration aims to move beyond traditional buyer-seller dynamics, fostering joint research, manufacturing partnerships, and supply-chain integration across aerial, land, and underwater domains.

With a strong emphasis on maritime security in the Indo-Pacific, the group is co-chaired by Dr Helen Almey of the ADS Group and Sameer Joshi of NewSpace Research and Technologies. This initiative aims to accelerate the development of future military capabilities and create a sustainable ecosystem for joint industrial innovation.
