Khanij Bidesh India Limited (KABIL), a joint venture under the Ministry of Mines, is actively negotiating with countries such as Zambia and Chile to acquire overseas mineral assets, according to Minister G Kishan Reddy.
During the launch of the 6th Critical Minerals Auction, Reddy emphasised the urgent importance of establishing a robust R&D framework in India to meet the country’s rising needs for EV batteries and renewable energy, which are projected to triple worldwide by 2030.

He mentioned that India has invested around USD 4 billion in its National Critical Mineral Mission, far exceeding the US, which set aside only USD 1 billion for similar development.
