The top Indian diplomat and ambassador in the United States, representing India’s government and interests abroad, discussed plans to boost India’s technology sector, including semiconductor and AI initiatives, with Intel CEO Lip Bu Tan.
The virtual event, scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, took place as New Delhi accelerates its efforts to strengthen its semiconductor and AI sectors through the India Semiconductor Mission and IndiaAI initiative.
“Had the pleasure to interact with Mr. Lip Bu Tan, CEO of INTEL, to discuss INTEL’s initiatives and plans for India operations in coordination with the Government’s goal to develop semiconductor and AI industry in India under the aegis of India Semiconductor Mission and India AI,” Kwatra said in an X post.

For the AI summit scheduled in February, India is reinforcing its position through these ongoing discussions. As the first global AI summit hosted in the Global South, the upcoming India-AI Summit 2026 is scheduled to take place on February 19-20.
