One of the biggest construction and mining equipment companies in the world, Caterpillar or CAT, has announced that they will be appointing Christy Pambianchi as their new Chief Human Resource Officer, effective May 1. In her new role, Pambianchi will be a member of Caterpillar’s Executive office and will succeed Cheryl H Johnson, who announced her retirement early this year in January.
This is not Pambianchi’s first job as the CHRO of a company, as she has been a CHRO for the past 18 years in various countries like Intel, which boasts a revenue of over $53 billion annually. In her new role at CAT, Christy is expected to secure talented people for the firm and make the company policies that align with the company’s goals.
On her appointment, the Chairman and CEO of CAT, Jim Umpleby, said, “Our people are a source of innovation and competitive advantage, and we must continue to attract and retain the best talent to serve our customers. Christy is an experienced executive with strong credentials and a history of demonstrated success. I am confident she will contribute to our journey of profitable growth.”

Serving as Intel’s Chief People Officer, Pambianchi oversaw Human Resources, Corporate Real Estate, Corporate Social Responsibility, and the Transformation Management Office. She previously occupied the Chief Human Resources Officer position at both Verizon and Corning, managing IT and all HR functions. Earlier in her career, she took on progressively senior roles at PepsiCo, Inc. Moreover, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and is also a fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources.
